The CBT-Partnership counters relationship problems by teaching couples and families communication skills like active listening, expressing feelings, learning to argue and disagree.
Relationship Issues
The slogan ‘location, location, location’ when trying to find a home could be replaced by ‘communication, communication, communication’ when discussing intimate relationships. Intimate relationships require love and hard work. The hard work is mainly investing time and energy in communication.
Children's problems
Problems of young people can be various. The young person may have an emotional problem like for instance feeling anxious in all social situations, as was the case for Jason. He was fine in highly structured school environments, but when he had to work in groups, play with other children or when there were social occasions that called for some interaction with others; he became painfully shy and very anxious. Other issues may be behavioural problems that create disruption in the home and/or at school.
Jake for instance was very hard to motivate to obey rules, whether it was at home or at school. Jake always did what he wanted to do and did not care about the consequences for other people.
