Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Businesses
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) has a successful track record of bringing about sustained change in people. Don’t be mislead by the word ‘therapy’. CBT is par excellence a method that lends itself to being applied in a variety of settings: it can be used to prevent problems and can be utilised to improve performance. That is the reason why CBT fits so excellently in the culture of business.
Through working with us you can take a look at improving your personal performance in a business environment. You will work with someone who helps you get insight and understanding into the strategies you use to achieve results. A first port of call is often to identify your personal roadblock to optimal success. These roadblocks could be in the realm of the mental processes you use to motivate yourself and solve problems. It could also be roadblock in interpersonal relationships, where you might find certain roles difficult.
You will develop goals, which will be focussed on helping improve your performance and then create a plan to deliver them. You will review your progress in a supportive, confidential environment.
Think about your business performance for a moment and take a look at these topics below.
- Which one would you really benefit from improving?
- Performance Management
- Relationship building
- Influencing others
- Decision making
- Managing your team
Often we know where we need to make improvements but we just don’t quite get going. On other occasions we simply don’t know where to start. We can help with both of these puzzles.
For example, you may want to reduce your stress before you present to an audience. It may be true that you have never presented before and so you need to learn new skills. Or you may have made plenty of presentations and each one causes you anxiety. This needs behavioural change.
The CBT-Partnership can help with either situation.
Or you may need to give some difficult feedback but don’t get around to giving it. The situation deteriorates but still you avoid the feedback. Coaching will explore what’s behind the avoidance and can create a strategy to get you there.
What is your role in working with us?
You need to come with an open mind and curiosity. This is an opportunity for you to take control of your thinking and outcomes. Often we impact our own performance but cannot see how. When you take a look it may become very clear what action you need to take. So then you take control.
The Partnership can establish links with you and/or your company. We can offer:
- Individual Personal Performance Assessment
- Individual Mentoring to improve performance (Business performance mentoring)
- Individual coaching to address specific performance blockades (Business performance coaching)
- In-company Mindfulness Training (see Mindfulness for more information)
- In-company individual/group training to combat stress, anger and burn-out
The Benefits of working with us for your business
The benefits for you as an employer are that you will be respected for taking a pro-active stance in preventing stress related problems. Through early intervention your employees will improve productivity and reduce loss of productivity (reduction of sick leave).
Your organisation has to be performing at the highest level of effectiveness in order to survive and prosper in these tough times.
This means that you staff’s skills in leadership, decision-making, staff relations, creativity, stress and time management, meeting control or sensitive issue handling, have to be of the very highest order.
Business coaching and mentoring can help you in all those vital areas and more, because it's all about the future ... ... discovering you and your staff’s potential and realizing it.
The Benefits of working with us for you personally
You will learn about your strengths and the personal roadblocks that prevent you from reaching your full potential. You can also learn how to overcome these roadblocks and enhance your strengths.
In-company Mindfulness Training (see Mindfulness for more information)
Mindfulness keeps your attention in the present moment. The goal “is simply to observe- with no intention of changing or improving anything.” Mindfulness enables us to live each and every moment to the fullest. Mindfulness is a means of observing and accepting what is occurring at the time, instead of demanding how things should be. Accepting what happens in our mind just as it is right now, with all the positives and negatives, often leads to increased confidence, calmer moods, and enhanced coping skills. Mindfulness is awareness of the moment- something that is beneficial in many aspects of life such as working, talking, playing, or eating. Tuning into the present moment is what mindfulness is about.
Practicing mindfulness on a daily basis may not be as easy as it sounds. The group provides practice and support to help you to begin making changes. In the group you will learn to shake off stress and enjoy total rest and focus your mind. You will be refreshed and gain a broader and clearer view of life. You can develop a deeper and stronger belief in your abilities; you learn to respond more helpfully and effectively to what is happening around you.
The CBT-Partnership has developed an 8 week course that we can run in your company for up to 20 people at a time (minimum group size is 6).
In-company individual/group training to combat stress, anger and burn-out
Burn-out, stress and anger are things that really decrease work performance.
The CBT-Partnership has developed an 8-week course that we can run in your company for up to 20 people at a time (minimum group size is 6).
In this group we teach participants to become their own best personal mentor and coach, using principles of cognitive behaviour therapy.
How does it work?
There are several options - we are flexible in our approach and can structure the CBT in a way that suits your organisation and its people. For example, we could run Mindfulness Courses and Resiliency Building courses within your company, the cost of which could be (partially) funded by the employer.
We could make individual/group sessions available to your employees as a preventative measure or to help employees recover more quickly from psychological problems.
The mentoring and coaching work is done by Alistair Elliot and Henck van Bilsen.
How much would it cost?
As you would expect, costs are variable depending on your requirements and your contract with us. We can offer our services on an ad-hoc basis, or on a subscription (package) basis. For more information contact our director Henck van Bilsen here firstname.lastname@example.org
